Standard Test Method for Measurement of the Fracture Resistance of a Modular Resilient Flooring’s Profiled Edge(s) to an Applied Vertical Force

Importancia y uso:

4.1 Modular flooring having profiled edges, installed as a floating floor can provide a quick and easy installation system. The product is held together by the interlocking profiled edges. If the profiled edges are too brittle, over flexed, etc. they can be susceptible to fracture, which can then allow the modular panels (planks or tiles) to cause ledging and gapping with adjoining tiles/planks. Too soft or too flexible, the profiled edges might come unhinged. This test method provides a means of characterizing the vertical deflection strength of the profiled edges of modular flooring, by applying a vertical load to the profiled edge to see if fracture or over flexing occurs. This test method may correlate to the type of vertical fracture that can occur with ISO 4918 castor chair test method used to evaluate lock integrity of an assembled modular flooring.
