Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Dog Harnesses for Motor Vehicle Safety

Importancia y uso:

4.1 The purpose of this specification is to establish a uniform specification for harness restraint systems used in motor vehicles for certain dogs. Although this specification will not eliminate the need for the exercise or reasonable consumer responsibility in selecting appropriate products suitable for dogs of varying size and weight or consumer supervision in situations in which such dogs are placed in motor vehicles, its application is reasonably intended to minimize injuries with the normal, intended use and reasonably foreseeable abuse of dog restraint systems in motor vehicles. This test only measures the durability and performance during a motor vehicle crash. It does not intend to test the overall workmanship, construction, and performance of dog harnesses used during non-motor vehicle activities.

4.2 This specification relates to possible hazards that may not be recognized readily by the public associated with motor vehicle crashes involving certain, but not all, unrestrained dogs.

4.3 This specification does not cover product performance or quality except as related to restraint of certain dogs in certain motor vehicle crashes.

4.4 This specification has no requirements for those aspects of a restraint system that present an inherent and recognized hazard as part of its reasonable function. No representation is made that conformance to this specification will assure occupant survival in all crashes involving motor vehicles, which are affected by a myriad of circumstances.
