4.1 This guide establishes methods for endurance testing of mechanisms within fly-by-wire systems (also referred to as indirect control systems), such as inceptors and effectors. This standard also provides guidance that can be used when a higher-level specification or practice invokes endurance testing, or when endurance testing is chosen for economic or reliability reasons.
