Standard Guide for Additive Manufacturing of Metals – Feedstock Materials – Metal Powder Feedstock Characterization Data for the Purpose of Comparative Quality Evaluation
Importancia y uso:
4.1 The overall aim of this guide is to provide quality guideline data for powder test methods commonly used for characterizing metal powder feedstock used in AM.
4.2 These guidelines are intended for users of powder characterization test methods, to provide guidance on expected test data variability, when developing standard operating procedures for test methods in-house, and when approving laboratory data from in-house powder testing.
4.3 These guidelines are intended for users of powder characterization test method data, to give an indication of the levels of test data variability that can be obtained from different laboratories, when approving and using test data from external laboratories.
4.4 This guide considers powder test methods that could be used to characterize metal powder feedstock used in Powder Bed Fusion (PBF), Binder Jetting (BJT), and Directed Energy Deposition (DED) processes. This guide does not consider methods to examine or assess the binder-powder formulation in BJT.
