Standard Guide for Aircraft Electronics Technician Certification

Importancia y uso:

4.1 The guide is intended to be used to assess competencies of qualified individuals who wish to become certified as an Aircraft Electronics Technician through a certification program.

4.2 The guide is intended to be used in concert with a certification provider’s structure and materials for management, exam delivery, and candidate preparation.

4.3 The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) identified in this guide shall be assessed by levels of competency as referenced in Table 1.

4.4 This guide identifies KSA levels for three skill-level technicians: Apprentice (A), Journeyman (J), and Master Technician (M).

4.5 An “Apprentice” is defined as an inexperienced technician who is learning by practical experience under a skilled worker.

4.6 A “Journeyman” is defined as a trained, skilled worker who is considered competent and authorized to work as a fully qualified employee.

4.7 A “Master Technician” is a highly trained expert in the field who often uses technology and tools to troubleshoot complex issues, oversees and signs off the work of other technicians, and conducts on-the-job training for Apprentices and Journeyman.

4.8 Each KSA in this guide correlates the minimum skill level for each of the three levels of technician in parentheses following each line (example: (A1, J2, M3), meaning the Apprentice is required to know the standard to a level 1, a Journeyman a level 2, and a Master technician should know the standard to a level 3).

4.9 This system includes a level “0” which means the standard is not required for the associated skill level (example: (A0, J1, M2) meaning an Apprentice is not required to know that particular standard, but a Journeyman is required to know the standard to a level 1, and a Master Technician should know the standard to a level 2).
